• Build leadership and preeminence in ophthalmic research.

 

• Provide research facilities for ophthalmic research. 

 

• Initiate population-based studies to define the national state of ophthalmic health. 

 

• Formulate and recommend national policies to promote visual health, prevent eye diseases, reduce blindness, and foster visual rehabilitation.

 

• Assist in patient diagnosis and treatment using the Institute's research and clinical facilities and

 

• Provide direction, inspiration, and training for development of future research programs in ophthalmology
